Courier Earnings & Payment Policy

Effective Date: 8 May 2026 · Version 1.0

This Policy explains how couriers earn, how earnings are calculated, and when and how payments are made. It forms part of the Courier Distribution Agreement.

1. Earnings Structure

Courier earnings on Vyete are made up of the following components:

| Component | Description | |---|---| | Base Delivery Fee | Fixed fee per completed delivery run | | Distance Supplement | Additional pay for runs exceeding the base distance threshold | | Peak Demand Multiplier | Multiplier applied during high-demand periods | | Tip | Optional gratuity from the customer | | Bonuses | Periodic performance and volume-based incentives |

Specific fee rates are published in the Earnings section of the Courier app and are updated periodically by Vyete.

2. Base Delivery Fee

2.1 Fee Setting

The base delivery fee for each run is calculated at the point of offer and displayed in the courier app before acceptance. The fee is based on:

  • The distance from pickup to drop-off.
  • The transport mode category applicable to the run.
  • The category of goods (standard, bulky, cold-chain, high-value).
  • Current supply and demand conditions.

Once a run is accepted, the base fee displayed at acceptance is guaranteed, subject to Sections 5 and 7.

2.2 Run Types

| Run Type | Description | Typical Base Fee Range | |---|---|---| | Last-Mile (Standard) | Single consumer delivery within 5 km | Published in app | | Last-Mile (Extended) | Consumer delivery 5–15 km | Published in app | | Multi-Drop | Up to 10 drops per run, routed by app | Published in app | | Brand-to-Shop | Warehouse to shop distribution runs | Negotiated; shown in app | | Express | Priority delivery under 60 minutes | Premium above standard |

3. Distance Supplement

Where a run exceeds the base distance threshold (typically 5 km), a per-kilometre supplement is added for each kilometre above the threshold. The supplement rate by transport mode:

| Transport Mode | Supplement per km above threshold | |---|---| | Pedal cycle / e-bike | Published in app | | Motorcycle / moped | Published in app | | Car | Published in app | | Van | Published in app |

Distance is calculated as the platform's routing distance (the actual navigation distance, not straight-line), measured at the time the run is dispatched.

4. Peak Demand Multiplier

During periods of high demand relative to available couriers, Vyete applies a demand multiplier to the base fee. The multiplier is:

  • Displayed clearly in the courier app before a run is accepted.
  • Calculated dynamically based on real-time supply and demand.
  • Applied uniformly to all couriers in the affected zone.
  • Visible in the Earnings tab of the app as a line item.

Multipliers typically range from 1.1× to 2.0×. During exceptional events, higher multipliers may apply.

5. Cancellations and Partial Payments

| Scenario | Payment | |---|---| | Run cancelled by platform before pickup | 50% of accepted base fee | | Courier unable to collect (shop fault; documented) | 100% of accepted base fee | | Courier cancelled after pickup commenced | No fee; incident reviewed under Code of Conduct | | Failed delivery (genuine attempt, not courier fault) | 100% of accepted base fee; return trip fee if applicable | | Failed delivery (courier fault, no attempt made) | No fee; possible deduction |

Courier-initiated cancellations count against your completion rate metric, which affects tier status and access to premium runs.

6. Tips

Customers may add an optional tip at the point of checkout. Tips are:

  • Displayed in the courier app alongside the run offer.
  • Paid in full to the courier — Vyete does not deduct commission or fees from tips.
  • Included in the earnings payout for the relevant period.
  • Non-negotiable; couriers must not solicit additional tips from customers.

7. Earnings Deductions

The following may be deducted from earnings:

| Deduction | Basis | |---|---| | Equipment hire (where applicable) | Monthly or per-run equipment fee for Vyete-provided kit | | Lost or damaged consignment liability | Where the courier is found responsible for loss or damage after investigation | | Cash-on-delivery shortfall | Where courier failed to collect the correct COD amount | | Platform access fee (where applicable) | In markets where Vyete charges a programme access fee |

Vyete will always notify the courier in writing before applying a deduction above 500 local currency units and provide an opportunity to respond. Deductions for lost/damaged goods are applied only after a formal investigation.

8. Bonus Programmes

Vyete runs periodic bonus incentive programmes to reward consistent performance and availability. Bonus programmes may include:

  • Completion Bonuses: Earn an additional fixed amount after completing a target number of runs in a defined period.
  • Weekend/Public Holiday Bonuses: Enhanced rates on specified dates.
  • Referral Bonuses: Fee paid when a courier you refer completes their first 10 runs.
  • Streak Bonuses: Additional pay for consecutive days of activity above a minimum run threshold.

Active bonus programmes are published in the Courier app under Earnings → Promotions. Terms and conditions for each programme are published at launch.

9. Payment Schedule

9.1 Standard Payment Cycle

Earnings from completed runs are aggregated weekly. Payments are processed every Wednesday for the prior week (Monday 00:00 to Sunday 23:59 local time). Funds arrive in the courier's nominated account within 1–3 business days depending on the payout method.

9.2 Minimum Payment Threshold

A minimum balance of 200 local currency units must be accumulated before a scheduled payment is made. Balances below the threshold roll over to the next week. Couriers may request a manual payment at any time above this threshold.

9.3 Instant Payment

Couriers may request an instant payment of available cleared earnings at any time via the Courier app for a 1.0% instant payment fee. Instant payments are available to mobile wallet accounts only, processed within 30 minutes during business hours.

10. Payment Methods

| Method | Availability | |---|---| | Mobile money (M-Pesa, MTN, Airtel Money, etc.) | Supported markets | | Local bank transfer | All registered regions | | Vyete Wallet | All couriers |

Payment method is configured in Courier Dashboard → Settings → Payments. Changes take effect from the next payment cycle.

11. Earnings Statements and Records

A detailed earnings statement is available in the Courier app for every payment period. Statements include:

  • Completed runs and fees earned.
  • Peak demand multipliers applied.
  • Tips received.
  • Bonuses credited.
  • Deductions itemised.
  • Net payment amount.

Statements are retained in the app for 24 months.

12. Queries and Disputes

Earnings queries must be raised within 30 calendar days of the relevant payment cycle. To raise a query:

  1. Navigate to Earnings → Payment History in the Courier app.
  2. Select the relevant statement and tap Query this Payment.
  3. Provide a description and any supporting evidence.

Vyete will respond within 5 business days. If the query is upheld, a correction is made in the next payment run.

13. Tax

Couriers are independent contractors. They are solely responsible for declaring earnings to the relevant tax authority and paying any applicable income tax or self-employment tax. Vyete will provide annual earnings summaries on request to assist with tax filings. Vyete does not deduct income tax or national insurance at source unless required to do so by applicable law.
