Commission & Payouts

Effective Date: 13 July 2026 · Version 2.0

This document sets out how ticket payment works for Events on the Vyete Platform. Vyete does not process, hold, or move money for a ticket sale, and does not take a commission on it — the attendee pays the host directly, and there is no payout for Vyete to make.

1. No Platform Commission

Vyete does not charge a commission on any Event booking, of any kind. There is no commission tier, no percentage deducted from a booking, and no invoice Vyete issues you for facilitating a sale, because Vyete never holds the money a commission would be deducted from.

2. How Ticket Payment Works

| Stage | What Happens | |---|---| | Attendee books a paid ticket | Booking is created in PENDING status; no charge occurs on the Platform | | Attendee pays you directly | Using whatever method you've agreed with them — Vyete is not involved | | You confirm payment received | Via markTicketPaymentReceived on your Dashboard — this, not a Vyete-processed transaction, confirms the booking | | Attendee checks in at the event | You enter the check-in code they present, via checkInAttendee — this is the fulfilment record for the booking |

If you don't confirm payment within the payment window shown on the booking, the booking is automatically cancelled and the ticket capacity it held is released back to the event, mirroring how an unattested Auction win is handled elsewhere on the Platform. Free events skip payment confirmation entirely — a booking on a free event confirms immediately.

3. No Payout

Because Vyete never receives the ticket payment, there is nothing for Vyete to pay out, deduct a refund from, or clawback. Whatever the attendee pays you is yours, in full, settled directly between you and them.

4. Refunds

Refunds for a cancelled or unfulfilled booking are between you and the attendee — Vyete holds no funds to refund on your behalf. See the Booking Cancellation Policy for the platform-wide expectation on what a fair refund looks like.

5. Taxes and Invoicing

5.1 Your Tax Obligations

You are responsible for:

  • Correctly computing and collecting VAT on the ticket price where required by law.
  • Remitting all applicable taxes to the Kenya Revenue Authority.
  • Issuing a valid tax invoice or receipt to the attendee for the ticket price where required.
  • Maintaining tax records for the statutory retention period (7 years under Kenyan law).

Vyete is not your tax agent, does not process your ticket revenue, and does not provide tax advice. Since Vyete never holds this money, it withholds no tax on it and issues no payout-related tax certificate for it — unlike Vyete's own platform subscription and campaign charges (see Payment Terms).

6. Disputes

Since Vyete never holds ticket funds, it cannot issue a refund on either party's behalf. Once you check in an attendee, they may raise a dispute against that booking within 14 days through the Platform. You (or Vyete's Trust & Safety team, for escalated cases) can close it once resolved directly between you. This is a visibility and trust signal, not a payment reversal mechanism — see the Dispute Resolution Procedure for full detail.
