Prohibited & Restricted Products Policy

This Policy defines categories of products that may not be listed or sold on the Vyete platform, and categories that may only be listed subject to additional requirements. All shops are bound by this Policy under the Shop Terms & Conditions.

1. Purpose

Vyete operates a marketplace used by consumers of all ages and backgrounds. This Policy protects users, shops, and the platform from legal liability, reputational harm, and physical risk by establishing clear boundaries on what may and may not be sold.

2. Absolutely Prohibited Products

The following categories are prohibited without exception. Listings in these categories will be removed immediately and the shop account reviewed for suspension:

2.1 Weapons and Dangerous Materials

Firearms, ammunition, and firearm accessories (including replicas designed to be converted to fire live rounds).
Explosives, incendiary devices, and the components or precursors to manufacture them.
Chemical, biological, radiological, or nuclear materials.
Bladed weapons with a blade exceeding 3 inches that are not kitchen or trade tools.
Stun guns, tasers, and illegal self-defence devices.

2.2 Illegal and Controlled Substances

Illegal drugs and controlled substances, including analogues and synthetic variants.
Prescription-only medicines sold without a valid prescription or regulatory authorisation.
Drug paraphernalia designed or marketed for use with controlled substances.
Psychoactive substances where prohibited under applicable law.

2.3 Adult and Obscene Content

Pornographic or sexually explicit material of any kind.
Content that sexualises minors in any form — this is a criminal offence and will be reported to authorities without exception.
Products designed solely for use in generating non-consensual intimate imagery.

2.4 Products That Infringe Intellectual Property

Counterfeit goods, including replica branded items designed to deceive consumers.
Products that infringe registered trademarks, patents, or registered designs.
Unauthorised copies of software, music, films, or other copyright-protected works.

2.5 Stolen and Misappropriated Goods

Items that are known or reasonably suspected to be stolen.
Goods acquired through fraud or misrepresentation.

2.6 Human and Animal Products

Human body parts, organs, and biological material.
Endangered species, live animals, and animal products prohibited under CITES.
Ivory and products derived from protected wildlife.

2.7 Other Prohibited Items

Malware, spyware, hacking tools, and services.
Personal data (databases of individuals, scraped contact lists).
Products making unsubstantiated medical or health claims contrary to applicable regulations.
Currency, financial instruments, and securities not sold through authorised channels.

3. Restricted Products

The following categories may be listed only where the shop meets the stated conditions. Failure to meet the conditions at any time requires immediate de-listing.

3.1 Age-Gated Products

Any product in a restricted age category must have age gating enabled at the product or category level. Vyete provides an age-verification tool within the platform. Shops must not disable this feature or attempt to circumvent it.

3.2 Licence and Certificate Verification

Shops listing restricted products must upload relevant licences and certifications via Shop Dashboard → Compliance → Licence Manager. Vyete will verify submissions within 10 business days. Shops must notify Vyete immediately if a licence lapses or is revoked.

4. Product Listing Standards for Restricted Categories

Even where a restricted product is authorised, every listing must:

Accurately describe the product, including all relevant safety information.
Include compliant product labelling images.
Not use misleading, sensational, or age-inappropriate imagery.
Include required statutory warnings where applicable (e.g., health warnings on tobacco).
Not use targeting features to direct restricted products at users under the applicable age.

5. Reporting Prohibited Listings

Any platform participant may report a suspected prohibited or non-compliant listing via the Report This Product function on any product page, or by emailing [email protected].

Vyete will review reports within 3 business days for standard reports and within 24 hours for reports involving potential harm to minors or illegal weapons/substances.

6. Enforcement

6.1 Listing Removal

Vyete may remove any listing that violates this Policy without prior notice.

6.2 Account Actions

Depending on severity and intent:

First violation (restricted product, minor breach): Listing removed, written warning issued, compliance re-training required.
Repeated restricted product violations: Temporary suspension of listing privileges for 30 days.
Any absolutely prohibited product: Immediate account suspension pending review; possible permanent termination and referral to law enforcement.

6.3 Appeals

A shop may appeal a listing removal or account action within 10 business days by emailing [email protected] with the listing reference and supporting evidence.

7. Liability

Shops are solely responsible for ensuring their listings comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and this Policy. Vyete's removal of a non-compliant listing does not constitute legal advice and does not absolve the shop of any liability arising from having offered the product.
