Influencer & Ambassador Policy
Effective Date: 8 May 2026 · Version 1.0
This Policy governs how brands registered on Vyete may engage influencers and brand ambassadors in connection with the Vyete platform. It sets out disclosure requirements, conduct standards, and Vyete's expectations for responsible influencer marketing. This Policy forms part of the Brand Terms & Conditions.
1. Scope and Application
This Policy applies to any brand on Vyete that:
- Engages, compensates, or gifts influencers in connection with content that references or links to the Vyete platform or the brand's Vyete listings.
- Operates an ambassador programme where participants promote the brand's Vyete-hosted shop or products.
- Runs affiliate arrangements where third parties earn commission on Vyete orders driven by their content.
This Policy also applies to Vyete-run creator programmes where creators are engaged directly by Vyete to promote the platform.
2. Definitions
| Term | Meaning | |---|---| | Influencer | An individual who publishes content to a social audience and is compensated (cash, product, or benefit) for promoting a brand | | Ambassador | An influencer with an ongoing, formalised relationship with a brand | | Affiliate | A person or entity earning commission on sales driven by tracked links | | Sponsored Content | Any content produced in exchange for compensation or benefit | | Material Connection | Any relationship between a brand and a creator that could affect how audiences evaluate the content, including payment, gifting, discounts, and personal relationships |
3. Mandatory Disclosure Standards
3.1 The Core Principle
All Sponsored Content must be clearly and prominently disclosed as such. Audiences must be able to identify that content is paid or incentivised before they engage with it. This is a legal requirement in most jurisdictions and is non-negotiable.
3.2 Required Disclosures
Where a Material Connection exists, the content must include one or more of the following disclosures, placed prominently and legibly:
| Platform / Format | Required Disclosure | |---|---| | Instagram / TikTok post | "#ad" or "#sponsored" in the first line of the caption OR the platform's built-in paid partnership label | | YouTube video | Verbal disclosure within the first 30 seconds AND a text card disclosure | | Blog or written article | Clear label at the start of the article: "This post contains sponsored content" or equivalent | | Podcast or audio | Verbal disclosure at the beginning of any sponsored segment | | Live streaming | On-screen text or verbal disclosure at the start of the stream and at regular intervals (at least every 15 minutes) | | Stories / ephemeral content | Swipe-up or tap-through links must include a disclosure frame |
3.3 Disclosures That Do Not Qualify
The following are insufficient on their own and may not be relied upon:
- Disclosures buried below a "read more" fold or after long text.
- Hashtags that are ambiguous or abbreviated (e.g., "#sp", "#collab", "#partner" without context).
- Disclosures visible only briefly, in small text, or in a colour similar to the background.
- A general statement in an account bio that does not relate to specific content.
3.4 Gifted Products
Where a brand provides products at no cost without requiring content in return ("gifting without obligation"), a disclosure is still required if the influencer creates content about the product. The influencer must note that the product was received as a gift.
4. Content Standards
4.1 Accuracy
All Sponsored Content must accurately represent the brand's products and must not include:
- Claims that are false, unsubstantiated, or misleading.
- Before-and-after comparisons that have been digitally manipulated to misrepresent results.
- Health, medical, or nutritional claims not supported by evidence compliant with applicable regulations.
- Price claims inconsistent with current Vyete listing prices.
Refer to the Claims & Substantiation Policy for detailed guidance on permitted and prohibited product claims.
4.2 Audience Safety
Influencer and ambassador content must not:
- Be directed at children under 13 for products not appropriate for children.
- Promote age-restricted products (alcohol, tobacco, adult products) to audiences where under-18s are a significant proportion.
- Feature unsafe product use or dangerous activities.
- Normalise disordered eating, extreme diets, or cosmetic procedures in connection with product promotion.
4.3 Authenticity
Influencers must only endorse products they have genuinely used or tested. Brands must not instruct influencers to claim personal experience they have not had.
4.4 Platform Terms
All content must comply with the terms and community guidelines of the platform on which it is published (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, etc.), as well as the Vyete User Content Guidelines.
5. Brand Responsibilities
Brands are responsible for:
- Briefing all influencers and ambassadors on this Policy and the applicable disclosure requirements before any content is produced.
- Including disclosure requirements in all influencer contracts and gifting communications.
- Monitoring influencer content and notifying Vyete of any material non-compliance via [email protected].
- Maintaining records of all influencer engagements, compensation, and briefing materials for at least 2 years.
- Ensuring influencers are not making any commercial claims about Vyete itself without Vyete's prior written approval.
6. Influencer Vetting
Brands should exercise due diligence when selecting influencers. Brands must not engage influencers who:
- Have a recent public record of harmful, discriminatory, or illegal conduct.
- Operate accounts with a significant proportion of inauthentic followers (bot audiences).
- Have previously been penalised for systematic non-disclosure on any major platform.
- Promote content that conflicts with Vyete's values as set out in the Platform Acceptable Use Policy.
7. Vyete's Creator Programme
Where Vyete operates its own creator or affiliate programme, separate programme terms apply. Creators in Vyete's programme must additionally adhere to the supplementary Creator Guidelines provided at onboarding.
8. Enforcement
8.1 Non-Compliant Content
Vyete may require a brand to remove or amend influencer content that violates this Policy. Brands must act within 48 hours of notification.
8.2 Brand Sanctions
Repeated or serious non-compliance may result in:
- Suspension of advertising privileges on the platform.
- Removal from the Brand Partnership Programme.
- Account suspension under the Brand Terms & Conditions.
8.3 Regulatory Referral
Where Vyete identifies systematic or deliberate non-disclosure that appears to violate consumer protection law, Vyete may refer the matter to the relevant advertising standards authority or consumer regulator.
9. Updates
Advertising standards regulations change frequently. Vyete will update this Policy to reflect material regulatory developments and provide at least 14 days' notice of changes.
